Master of Dansaekhwa, Korean monochrome, Park Seo-bo became the first Korean creative collaborator of Louis Vuitton’s 2022 ArtyCapucines collection.
The ArtyCapucines collection’s mission is combination between arts and fashion by reimagine Louis Vuitton's most popular Capucines handbag in artists' language. The bag is named after Louis Vuitton’s original Maison, which was located on rue Neuve-des-Capucines, where the maison's first store opened in 1854.
Louis Vuitton has been collaborating with international contemporary artists to created the ArtyCapucines since 2019 and this is the fourth collection. In addition, six artists have been invited for 2022 ArtyCapucines bag collection : Amelie Bertrand, Daniel Buren, Ugo Rondinone, Peter Marino, Kennedy Yanko and Park Seo-Bo.
The Artycapucines from the artist Park Seo-Bo is a precise translation of a 2016 work from his celebrated ‘Écriture’ series. The calfskin of the body of this exceptional piece is first treated with a brushstroke effect, before a highly detailed 3D rubber injection is then carefully applied. A patina is then added, to obtain the perfect shade of bright red and burgundy echoing the artist’s work. The bag’s curved handle, crafted from certified wood, and its natural linen canvas lining also hark back to the artist’s practice. Moreover, the pocket of inside the bag has Park’s signature printed on it, recreating the back of an artwork by Park.
Each design have been made Only 200 pieces, and each retails for $10,500.

Also, people can meet The Artycapucines in Seoul. From November 8 to 24, ArtyCapucines collection will be exhibited at Louis Vuitton Maison in Cheongdam-dong, with 3 pieces of Park Seo-Bo’s ‘Écriture’ series.
