His mother's hometown, Jeongok's barn, the smell of soil, and the smell of grass are captured in the work.

The seventh solo exhibition of Lee Doo-Won, who has traveled the world alone and has been working on the basis of inspiration from the materials and nature found there, was held at Gallery MAC in Busan, South Korea on the 8th.
Lee Doo-won, born in 1982, is an artist without formal art education at university. Instead, he traveled the world alone and unfolded his own unique world of art based on the materials he obtained there, his emotions, experiences, and inspiration from nature.
He received various artistic influences as a child from his father, an oriental painter, his mother, who worked in fashion, and his aunt, a graduate of the Beaux-Arts University of France. For him, painting was perhaps a part of life and play.
He called himself a living artist, saying, “Painting is an instinct, not a science or technique.”
Gallery MAC, who planned this exhibition, made his first relationship with Lee Doo-Won in 2013. This 10-year relationship led to Lee Doo-won's seventh exhibition, 'Doo-won, 40-year-old Temptation'.
Gallery MAC said, "This exhibition will show how much Lee Doo-won has grown over the past 10 years, whom he first met at the age of 30.“
“I am 40 years old, but a world full of temptations is always fun,” says Lee Doo-Won. 'Doo-won, 40-year-old Temptation' exhibition will be held from October 8 (Sat) to 30 (Sun).
“I am 40 now, but I am always interested and curious about the world, and living in the world is fun. Even if you just lie still, you will have to go on a trip the day after tomorrow. I'm very lazy, but some force pushes me here and there. This exhibition will make you think about what good work is. Jeongok, where my mother is, I worked next to my mother, who is her hometown, in an old barn, listening to the smell of dirt, grass, and the sound of rain.”

Artist Statement
Lee Doo-won works with his experiences and the emotions he feels at any time regardless of wherever he is during his travels around the world and with inspiration and materials he finds in nature. He works with his vision of the universe where nature, animals, and humans are one. He suffers from panic attacks and needs to take medicine to get on a plane, but leaves for a new country again and again. He is driven by longing for new, strange, and more ‘lively’ materials. To him, the canvas is a dead, overly-processed background. He looks for less-processed, natural that seem to be alive and breathe in countries like Pakistan, Nepal, and India, and constantly researches novel materials.
