Colors of the hair, skin, eyes, and other body parts are examples of personal colors. However, the term is also used nowadays to describe combinations of colors that work particularly well together.

Many Koreans are engaged in a quest to discover and assess their individual color preferences to enhance their appearance by selecting clothing and makeup that are more attractive to their skin tone. It has become a new beauty trend in Korea. Personal color analysis divides people into 12 groups and tells them what color combination and color look best on them.

Cool tones, or undertones, are found in winter and summer, while warm tones are found in spring and fall. Soft summer goes well with grayish and blueish colors like dry rose that don't have any yellow undertones.
