The joint academic symposium 'Nam-June Paik's Transmission: Journey over the Two Centuries' will be held on the 24th.
According to the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation, 10 experts from related fields will discuss the collection, exhibition, recording and preservation of outdoor media installations owned by Nam-joon Paik Art Center.

During the production and installation of Paik's representative works 'Transmission Tower(2002)' and 'Cars for the 20th Century(1997)' experts who collaborated with Paik will talk directly about their experiences.
In the symposium, curators, preservationists, technicians, writers and archivists who intervened in the production and utilization of the artist's works, which are sculptures with physical properties but include media, will discuss them from a theoretical and practical perspective.

The most important thing at this symposium is the discussion of the elements needed for the media installations owned by the museum to survive.
The symposuim, which focuses on the variability and originality of the media installation is expected to present a new perspective that differentiates it from the existing discussions that focused only on the property and quality of the work.

Meanwhile, the symposium is jointly planned and organized by the Leeum Museum of Art and the Nam-june Paik Art Center, and can participate free of charge through pre-booking.
