The 2026 Taean International Horticultural Healing Expo is set to take place on Anmyeon Island (Kkotji District), Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, from April 25 to May 24, 2026. Under the theme "A Healthy Future Found in Nature: Horticulture and Healing," the event will introduce a diverse range of floral exhibitions, healing programs, and international exchanges, expanding beyond traditional flower festivals.

This marks the third large-scale international horticultural event hosted by Chungcheongnam-do and Taean-gun, following the 2002 and 2009 Anmyeondo International Flower Expos. However, the 2026 edition has been rebranded to emphasize horticulture’s therapeutic effects, rather than focusing solely on floral displays. The expo will span 45.7 hectares in Kkotji District and an additional 42 hectares in Anmyeon-do Arboretum, making it one of the largest floral exhibitions in the country. Organizers anticipate over 1.82 million visitors, including international attendees, with an estimated budget of 208 billion KRW, sourced from national (41.62%), local (83.34%), and private investments (83.34%).

To ensure the event’s success, the Organizing Committee (headed by Secretary-General Oh Jin Gi) has already begun preparations, setting up a dedicated office on-site. Immediate tasks include finalizing the event’s branding and slogan by February, followed by completing the comprehensive execution plan by March. From April onward, the focus will shift to selecting an operating company and constructing the event grounds.

Beyond being a visual spectacle, the 2026 Expo aims to differentiate itself from conventional flower festivals by incorporating interactive experiences that promote both mental and physical well-being. The core exhibition areas include:

Horticultural Healing Pavilion: A journey through the past, present, and future of horticulture and healing agriculture, conveying the expo’s central message.
Industrial Pavilion: A showcase of cutting-edge horticultural technologies and products, featuring global companies and live demonstrations.
Exchange Pavilion: A platform for international collaboration, where global insights on horticultural healing are shared.
Healing Pavilion: An interactive space offering various horticultural therapy programs.
Local Pavilion: A marketplace for Chungcheongnam-do’s specialty products, fostering engagement between local residents and visitors.
In addition to exhibitions, diverse healing programs will be offered, including gardening workshops, therapeutic food classes, campus farming experiences, horticultural counseling, and plant decoration sessions. The Anmyeondo Arboretum will serve as an extension venue, featuring eco-friendly gardens, forest healing spaces, and educational programs. Visitors can also explore the Coastal Healing Center, which integrates marine leisure activities and ocean-based healing experiences.

A lineup of special events and cultural performances will enhance the visitor experience. National Days will feature unique programs and performances from participating countries, while the Drone Light Show and Hologram Show will provide nighttime entertainment. A floating healing garden on the sea, accessible via yacht tours, will create a photogenic retreat for guests. Additionally, special events coinciding with Children’s Day, Parents’ Day, and Teachers’ Day will add a festive touch. Other highlights include a Guinness World Record challenge for flower dyeing, themed night events, and immersive culinary experiences.

The expo will also host international academic conferences and seminars, attracting experts and industry leaders from around the world.

Secretary-General Oh Jin Gi expressed confidence in the expo’s success, citing Chungcheongnam-do’s proven track record from previous international flower exhibitions. "Although we are in the early stages of preparation, our team is fully committed to delivering an unforgettable experience for visitors. We invite the public to join us on this journey, ensuring that the 2026 Taean International Horticultural Healing Expo leaves a lasting impact."
