Haechan, the vocalist of NCT, has announced a temporary suspension of all upcoming activities due to severe symptoms caused by tonsillitis. The revelation was made by his agency, SM Entertainment, on the online fan community Weverse, citing fatigue and high fever during his schedule in Japan earlier this month.
Returning to Korea on Monday, Haechan sought immediate medical attention, and the medical team recommended sufficient rest and stability due to the severity of his tonsillitis. In light of this, Haechan expressed his intention to take a break to facilitate a speedy recovery.

As a result, Haechan will not be able to attend the Circle Chart Music Awards 2023 scheduled for January 10. His participation in future events will be contingent on his recovery status, according to SM Entertainment.
Due to his illness, Haechan was unable to participate in the "NCT 127 2ND TOUR 'NEO CITY: JAPAN - THE LINK" held in Japan on January 7 and 8.
Acknowledging the concerns of fans, the agency apologized and assured their commitment to assisting Haechan's speedy return. This development adds to a growing trend of K-pop idols announcing temporary suspensions in their activities due to health-related issues, prompting calls for enhanced management of both physical and mental health in the K-pop industry. Last year witnessed several instances, including ITZY's Lia citing mental health issues, Kim Chae-won of Le Sserafim temporarily halting activities due to health reasons, and (G)I-DLE's Minnie and Shuhua declaring a halt to all activities in December due to poor health.
