The Korea Football Association (KFA) has scheduled a meeting on Tuesday for its senior executives to appoint a new official responsible for hiring the men's national team head coach. The decision comes after the recent dismissal of Jurgen Klinsmann, held accountable for Korea's semifinal exit from the AFC Asian Cup.

The KFA leadership group will discuss candidates to lead the National Team Committee, which oversees the appointment of coaches for national teams across various age groups. Jurgen Klinsmann was relieved of his duties last Friday, prompting KFA President Chung Mong-gyu to announce an overhaul of the National Team Committee.
Michael Muller, who had been the National Team Committee chief since January 2023, is expected to be replaced by a Korean candidate. Chung Hae-sung, current head of the Competitions Committee at the KFA, Lee Lim-saeng, head of the KFA's Technical Development Committee, and Lee Young-pyo, former KFA vice president and 2002 FIFA World Cup star, have been mentioned as potential candidates for the top position in the National Team Committee.
The new committee leader will face time constraints to appoint a successor for Jurgen Klinsmann. Upcoming matches for the Korean national team include home-and-away World Cup qualifying games against Thailand on March 21 in Seoul and March 26 in Bangkok.
