Park Shin-hye, returning to work after three years and motherhood, empathized with her character, Ha-neul, highlighting the importance of addressing burnout and depression realistically. She emphasized that happiness is attainable without relying on grand solutions, intending to convey this message through her portrayal of Ha-neul.
Park Hyung-sik, known for his participation in serious and dark narratives, found the script of "Doctor Slump" refreshing. Despite the thematic focus on burnout and depression, he noted the drama's tone as supportive and comforting, akin to a close friend assuring that things will be alright.
The collaboration marks the reunion of the two actors, who previously worked together in "The Heirs" (2013). Their familiarity with each other facilitated chemistry-building for their respective roles in "Doctor Slump." Park Shin-hye expressed joy at working again with Park Hyung-sik, while he acknowledged feeling supported and less anxious with her by his side.
"Doctor Slump" premieres its first episode at 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 27.
