On March 14, the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute (Garo Sero) claimed that Kim Sae Ron’s diary contained specific records of her dating timeline with Kim Soo Hyun.
Kim Se Ui, head of Garo Sero, stated, "Kim Sae Ron kept a diary. That’s why her family was able to confirm the exact dates of their relationship." This raises further speculation about whether their relationship began when Kim Sae Ron was still a minor, potentially intensifying the ongoing legal dispute.
New Evidence Suggests Relationship Started in 2015? Kim Sae Ron’s family previously alleged through Garo Sero that she and Kim Soo Hyun had been in a relationship for six years, dating from November 19, 2015, to July 7, 2021. They also released photos of the two being affectionate, including one where they kissed, as well as a handwritten letter from Kim Soo Hyun sent during his military service in 2018.
However, Kim Soo Hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, initially denied all dating rumors before later admitting that the two were in a relationship—but only between the summer of 2019 and the fall of 2020, after Kim Sae Ron became an adult.
Adding to the confusion, Gold Medalist claimed the photos presented by Kim Sae Ron’s family were from winter 2020, despite previously stating the couple had broken up in the fall of that year. This contradiction has fueled public skepticism regarding the agency’s statements.
Garo Sero Calls Out Kim Soo Hyun’s Alleged Lies Garo Sero’s Kim Se Ui criticized Kim Soo Hyun, accusing him of gaslighting Kim Sae Ron and dismissing her as delusional.
"Kim Soo Hyun initially denied everything, calling the rumors ‘groundless,’ but after photos of them kissing were released, he suddenly changed his statement to say they only dated when she was an adult," he stated. "That makes him the liar, not Kim Sae Ron."
He also revealed that Garo Sero had considered releasing photos of Kim Soo Hyun shirtless at Kim Sae Ron’s home but decided against it out of respect for the bereaved family.
"Kim Soo Hyun’s agency claims he is emotionally unstable due to this controversy. The family didn’t want to worsen the situation, but if he dares to make a comeback on TV, we will release the photos," Kim warned.
Kim Sae Ron’s Mother Speaks Out Against Gold Medalist On the same day, Kim Sae Ron’s mother stated Garo Sero, criticizing Kim Soo Hyun’s agency for its past treatment of her daughter.
"The photos my daughter uploaded on social media were not manipulated. Yet Gold Medalist branded her as an unstable liar," she stated.
She expressed frustration over the power imbalance between Kim Soo Hyun’s agency and her daughter, stating:
"Kim Soo Hyun had a powerful agency, influential lawyers, and the resources to manage the crisis. But Sae Ron had no one except her family."
She also emphasized that her only wish is to restore her daughter’s honor and ensure similar injustices do not happen again.
"We hope this case catalyzes legal and institutional reforms so that the media takes responsibility for its actions and prevents such tragedies from recurring."
