Babymonster's debut details have been shrouded in secrecy until the last minute. The song's title was disclosed just days ago, and the music video, shot over five days in October, experienced production delays as the perfect song for the group was sought.
In a recent announcement, YG Entertainment disclosed that member Ahyeon would not be part of the debut lineup, reducing Babymonster to a six-member group. The statement conveyed that Ahyeon, who had been preparing for the debut, would be focusing on her health, with the implication that her departure is not temporary.
The six-member Babymonster is an international ensemble, featuring two Japanese rappers, Ruka and Asa, and two vocalists from Thailand, Pharita and Chiquita. The South Korean members, Rora and Rami (formerly known as Haram), contribute to the group as vocalists.
The excitement surrounding Babymonster's debut is palpable, given that this marks YG Entertainment's first girl group introduction in seven years, following the success of Blackpink in 2016. With a history of iconic girl groups like 2NE1 and Blackpink, fans have high expectations for Babymonster's potential impact on the K-pop scene.
