Painter IM KYUNG SUK's invitational exhibition “Love and Peace” will be held from December 23rd to January 20th, 2023 at the Vichae Art Museum Gallery in Seoul.
In this exhibition, 23 works by Lim, including “Blessing Bird,” “Graceful,” “Fragrant,” “Lover,” “Destiny,” and “Light of the Soul,” will be displayed. Themes such as “love, peace, blessing and comfort are themes that IM has consistently pursued in her artistic activities, including her paintings, over the past 40 years.
The starting point of her artistic inspiration is her gaze and perspective. Her works such as “Eyes in the Sun” and “Contemplation” represent the artist's point of view well.
In “The Blessing Bird” and ‘My Lovely Horse’, Artst’s viewpoint of looking into the eyes of birds and horses is well shown. She said, “The abstract, keywords of love and peace can be seen concretely in the eyes of people, birds, and horses.”
The eyes on her work can be interpreted in many ways through the eyebrows. For example, open eyebrows are positive, and single-lined eyebrows represent indifference.
The artist's desire for peace is revealed in blue. Blue is the color that represents the sky and water, and represents peace, stability, happiness, hope, and faith.
In 1985, IM KYUNG SUK began to gain attention as the first Asian woman to participate in a fashion show and performance at the Pompidou Center in Paris, France. And has participated in various exhibitions such as Flushing Town Hall in New York, ChosunIlbo Museum of Art, Chicago Museum of Art in the United States, and Dubai Art Fair.
In addition to being a painter, IM KYUNG SUK has continued artistic activities in various genres such as performance, fashion, printmaking, and writing.
