As per the compulsory military service requirement for all South Korean men, individuals must serve for 18 to 21 months under the conscription system established in 1948. Those with minor physical or psychological disabilities may opt for non-military service at facilities such as welfare centers or governmental organizations for a duration of 21 months.
In accordance with the 2020 revision of the Military Service Act, BTS members were granted the option to postpone their enlistment until the end of the year they turn 30. Should they choose to cancel this postponement, the members will need to enlist for active duty upon receiving their enlistment notices.
The anticipated timing for their enlistment is likely by the end of this year or early next year at the latest. BTS is expected to complete their required service over the next several years, leading to a hiatus projected to extend through 2025.
