Big Hit Music announced on Friday that BTS' 2021 hit single, "Butter," has secured the top position on Oricon's five-year single ranking.

This achievement marks the first time for an international artist to claim the top spot on the chart during Japan's Reiwa era.

Previously, BTS' "Dynamite" ranked No. 4 on the same chart in 2020.

"Butter" debuted strongly on Billboard's Hot 100, maintaining the top position for seven weeks and returning to it three more times. The song remained on the chart for 23 consecutive weeks.

The septet performed "Butter" at the 2022 Grammy Awards, earning recognition from Rolling Stone magazine, which included the live performance in its list of "The 30 Greatest Grammy Performances of All Time" last year.
