Young K, a member of the renowned K-pop rock band DAY6 and one of the industry's most accomplished songwriters, is embarking on a new chapter in his musical career with the release of his inaugural full-length solo album, "Letters with Notes." In a candid interview preceding the album's release on Monday, Young K shared his commitment to continuous growth and experimentation in the world of music.

Inspired by the guidance of his mentor, composer Hong Ji-sang, Young K expressed his unwavering dedication to improvement and transformation. "You should always be improving. And if you can't improve, you should at least change," he explained, encapsulating his creative ethos.

"Letters with Notes" marks Young K's maiden studio album and serves as his first musical offering since completing his military service in April. He achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first K-pop singer to serve as a Korean Augmentation Troops to the United States Army (Katusa) soldier.

Young K's reputation as a perfectionist and emotional lyricist is well-established through DAY6's hit tracks, including "You Were Beautiful" (2017), "Time of Our Life" (2019), and "Zombie" (2020). Young K also highlighted track number three, "let it be summer," a song that draws parallels between the seasons and life itself. His aim with this album is to provide listeners with the emotions they need at various junctures in their lives, whether seeking solace or excitement.

Having penned over 160 copyrighted songs by August this year, Young K ranks among the top 10 most prolific songwriters in the K-pop industry. Despite his impressive achievements, he remains modest about the reasons behind the adoration his songs receive, attributing his success to his commitment to crafting lyrics that harmonize seamlessly with the music.
