This accolade follows the footsteps of previous winners "Janghwa, Hongryeon" by Kim Jee-woon in 2004 and "Bedeviled" by Jang Cheol-soo in 2011, who also secured the top prize at the festival.

"Sleep" narrates the chilling tale of newlyweds whose lives take a terrifying turn when the husband exhibits peculiar behavior while asleep. The film was featured in the Cannes Critics' Week section at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, a segment dedicated to the works of emerging directors showcasing their first and second films.
