Distributor Plus M Entertainment has announced the delay of the theatrical release for the upcoming comedy action film "Mission: Cross," starring actor Jeon Hye-jin. Amid speculation, industry insiders suggest a potential connection between the postponement and the recent death of Jeon's husband, actor Lee Sun-kyun, known for his role in "Parasite." Lee Sun-kyun was found dead in an apparent suicide on Wednesday, following a third round of police questioning lasting 19 hours the previous Sunday over suspicions of illegal drug use. Despite repeatedly testing negative in drug tests last month, Lee Sun-kyun's sudden death may have influenced the decision to delay the film's release.
"Mission: Cross," directed by Lee Myung-hoon, features Hwang Jung-min as former agent Kang-moo and Yeom Jung-ah as his wife and veteran crime squad team member Mi-seon. The storyline unfolds as Kang-moo, concealing his past, becomes entangled in a significant case with his wife. Jeon Hye-jin's character, junior agent Hee-joo, seeks Kang-moo's assistance in an undercover investigation of a mysterious disappearance.
The film had garnered public attention, featuring the lead actor of this year's box office success "12.12: The Day," Hwang Jung-min, and the lead from the summer hit action flick "Smugglers," Yeom Jung-ah, in prominent roles.
