Lucas departed from NCT in May of the preceding year, concluding a two-year period marked by controversy. A scandal erupted in which a woman accused him of manipulation and infidelity during their relationship. Lucas issued a handwritten apology two days later in 2021, but the decision to officially leave both NCT and WayV occurred in 2023. Despite his departure, SM Entertainment affirmed that Lucas would be continuing his career as a solo artist.
The former NCT member faced criticism last year for leaving a message praising "Baggy Jeans," a track from the band's fourth studio album, "Golden Age." The nature of this feedback and its implications on his relationship with NCT remain noteworthy aspects of his recent career trajectory.
