South Korean architect Cho Min-seok, who won the 2014 Venice Biennale Golden Lion, will transform Mapo's thermal power plant into a new cultural space.

Cho was born in Seoul and majored in architecture in Korea and the United States, before gaining extensive experience by working on architectural and urban planning projects in New York and the Netherlands.

In 2024, he was selected as a design writer for the Serpentine Pavilion in London, England, and attracted the attention of the world, reflecting traditional Korean architecture.

The project was designed to further harmonize modern Seoul, which is a combination of natural and artificial elements, and the architect aims to open it in 2025.
