In a notable milestone for the K-pop genre, the girl group ILLIT has achieved a significant feat on the British Official Singles chart with their debut single "Magnetic." Landing at No. 80 on the latest chart, the song marks the first instance of a debut song by a K-pop act entering this esteemed chart.
ILLIT, consisting of five members, made their debut under Belift Lab, a music label subsidiary of the prominent K-pop entity Hybe, on March 25. "Magnetic" serves as the lead single from their inaugural EP titled "Super Real Me," which was also released on the same day.
The group's presence extends beyond the British chart, with a notable surge in popularity on Spotify, the world's largest streaming platform. Shortly after their debut, ILLIT made an impressive entry onto Spotify's Daily Top Songs Global chart, securing the 15th position. Subsequently, they made a significant leap of 175 spots on the latest Weekly Top Songs Global chart.
With regard to album sales, "Super Real Me" has broken records, setting an all-time first-week sales record for a debut album by a girl group. Sales figures surpassed 380,000 copies, indicating a strong reception among audiences.
Musically, "Magnetic" is characterized as a dance track exploring the theme of intense attraction towards a romantic interest.
