Korean Culture and Information Service to Recognize Global Promoters of Korean Culture

The Korean Culture and Information Service, an entity affiliated with the Culture Ministry, is set to present awards to foreign individuals who have contributed to the promotion of Korean culture on a global scale. The awards ceremony will take place during the 2023 K-wave Festival on Saturday.

A total of 35 individuals will be honored, including:

-Eight outstanding Korea.net Honorary Reporters.
-Eight K-influencer teams consisting of nine individuals.
-Eight winners of the 2023 Talk Talk Korea, a global online contest focused on Korea-related content.
-Three winning teams, totaling 10 individuals, from the Korean Community Challenge, an online -contest for Hallyu (Korean wave) clubs.

Among the notable awardees are Nathalie Fisz from France, who explored the cultural connections between France and Korea by interviewing Korean adoptees and artists from both nations. Additionally, Franco Gil from Venezuela has been recognized for promoting South Korea's tourism, particularly through Hallyu content like K-pop music and dramas.

This year's Talk Talk Korea winners include Fabian Alejandro from Colombia, while the Mexican crew Crisale secured victory in the K-Community Challenge with their K-pop performances inspired by the Joseon era (1392-1910).

The K-wave Festival will feature performances by popular K-pop idol groups, including Secret Number, Limelight, Kard, and iKon.

The award ceremony will also host an exhibition showcasing 45 award-winning works from this year's Talk Talk Korea contest and 37 from previous editions. The festival will commence at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at the National Theater of Korea's Daloreum Theater in central Seoul, with free admission. Visitors will have the opportunity to receive K-pop CDs with artist signatures and gift cards through a raffle organized by the event.
