Kakao Entertainment, under the leadership of Co-CEOs Kweon Ki-su and Joseph Chang, has revealed plans for organizational reform aimed at creating positive synergy across its music, media content, and intellectual property sectors. The announcement came during the company's first town hall meeting since the assumption of office by the new co-CEOs.

Joseph Chang will spearhead the establishment of a dedicated team tasked with overseeing music intellectual property (IP) and data-driven music development. This initiative aims to bolster the company's capacity in producing and expanding music and artist IP.

Furthermore, leveraging AI technology, Kakao Entertainment intends to enhance the competitiveness of its music streaming platform, Melon, and music retail business with a strategic focus on expanding into the North American market.

In the realm of drama and film, the company plans to establish a specialized subsidiary focused on film production and management.

Regarding its web novel and webtoon business, Kakao Entertainment aims to strengthen collaboration with Piccoma, Kakao's online platform for content development and distribution in Japan and France. Additionally, there are plans to increase investments in acquiring copyrighted content with global popularity.

To improve management efficiency across its subsidiaries, the company will establish a dedicated support organization.

During the town hall meeting, the co-CEOs emphasized a shift towards achieving more efficient and substantive growth rather than pursuing corporate expansion through mergers and acquisitions. They articulated a commitment to enhancing the fundamental competitiveness of each business area while concentrating on promoting growth through the utilization of existing capabilities.

The new leadership also announced plans for regular town hall meetings and initiatives to reshape corporate culture, including the implementation of an in-house department transfer system and reinforcement of the employee reward system.

Under the vision of "Content beyond content," Kakao Entertainment aims to assume a leading role in the advancement of the Korean entertainment industry by continuously evolving and innovating to meet societal expectations and standards.
