Naver announced on December 16 its strategic roadmap for 2025 to enhance its CHIZICH streaming service. The plans include expanding streamer support, improving viewer experiences, and diversifying content offerings. The announcement follows CHIZICH’s successful growth during its first year of operation.
Launched in December 2023, CHIZICH has rapidly established itself in the competitive streaming market. After a beta launch in February and an official launch in May 2024, the platform reached 2.5 million monthly active users (MAU) as of November and onboarded 148 partner streamers. Over the past year, a total of 4.82 million broadcasts were streamed through the platform.
CHIZICH’s success has been driven by its unique features, including high-quality streaming via bypass technology, text-to-speech (TTS) tools utilizing streamer voices, quick playback functions, and the introduction of Drops rewards. Additionally, CHIZICH’s integration with other Naver services, such as Clips, Cafes, and Naver Pay, has enhanced user experience. Clips, in particular, have become a key feature for discovering streamers, with playback and creation rates increasing by 82% and 74%, respectively, as of November.
The platform has also become a hub for esports content, featuring popular tournaments like League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) and the World Championship, offering high-quality broadcasts that garnered significant praise. Most recently, CHIZICH secured exclusive domestic streaming rights for the 2024 LoL KeSPA Cup, leading to a surge in esports fans on the platform.
At its first anniversary event held on December 15 at Naver’s headquarters, CHIZICH outlined its plans for 2025. A key focus will be enabling diverse revenue streams for streamers. For instance, streamers will be able to link their channels with Naver’s Smart Stores, allowing them to sell merchandise directly during broadcasts. Subscription benefits will also be revamped, including enhanced recognition for Tier 2 subscribers, to encourage broader participation.
CHIZICH is also increasing its content creation support. The platform’s existing program, which provides up to 30 million KRW per project across four rounds annually, will expand to six rounds in 2025, offering up to 120 million KRW per streamer each year. Eligibility will also extend beyond partner streamers to include pro-tier streamers, fostering an inclusive ecosystem for creative experimentation.
Virtual streamers will receive dedicated support as well. CHIZICH plans to expand its Motion Stage studio, a cutting-edge facility for virtual content creation, and enhance programs to promote virtual musicians through debut showcases and related productions.
CHIZICH will also introduce its own branded gaming tournaments in 2025. In addition to existing events like CHIFEST and CHILABS, the platform will launch larger-scale league competitions to provide more entertainment for viewers and streamers alike.
Kim Jeong Mi, leader of Naver’s CHIZICH team, stated, “Over the past year, CHIZICH has achieved steady growth thanks to the support of streamers and users. We’ve enhanced the platform’s features, resulting in a significant increase in active users. In 2025, we aim to elevate the streaming experience further by enhancing viewer engagement, expanding streamer support, and fostering a more diverse and mature content ecosystem.”
