A Seoul court handed down a sentence of six months in prison and 40 hours of treatment for stalkers to a 49-year-old woman who targeted celebrity couple singer Rain and actor Kim Tae-hee. The stalking incidents occurred at the couple's residence in Itaewon-dong, Yongsan District, starting from March 2021.

The woman, charged with minor penalties three times between March and October 2021, including a fine of less than 100,000 won ($76), had been repeatedly ringing the doorbell at the couple's home. Notably, these penalties were imposed before the legal consequences for stalking became more severe.
In February 2022, the woman was apprehended by the police while engaged in the act of stalking at the couple's house. Subsequently, the police forwarded her case to the prosecution in September of the same year.
Acknowledging that it was the woman's first offense and there was no apparent intention to cause harm, the court emphasized the gravity of the constant stalking against the celebrity couple. Despite considering her lack of prior offenses, the court deemed the crime as serious and cited concerns about the potential for recurrence, leading to the decision to impose a prison sentence. The court also noted the difficulty in providing appropriate treatment for the accused.
