Intel has launched its first AI-optimized desktop processor series, the Intel® Core™ Ultra 200S, on October 11. This new lineup aims to bring AI capabilities to desktop platforms, enhancing both gaming and content creation experiences while significantly reducing power consumption. The new series includes the Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 285K processor, featuring Intel’s next-generation architecture with up to eight P-cores and sixteen E-cores.

This series offers up to 14% improved multi-thread performance compared to previous generations. It also introduces the first desktop processors equipped with an NPU (Neural Processing Unit), designed to enhance AI processing capabilities, alongside the integrated Xe GPU for optimized media support. According to Intel, this innovation marks a significant step forward in delivering high-performance computing and gaming experiences with AI-driven features.

Robert Hallock, Intel’s head of AI and technical marketing at the Client Computing Group, noted that the Core Ultra 200S processors provide exceptional performance while maintaining lower power consumption. He emphasized that the inclusion of AI capabilities via the NPU, paired with Intel's advanced graphics technology, results in a user experience with reduced heat and noise levels during operation.

The Core Ultra 200S series promises up to 50% faster performance in AI-based creative applications compared to the leading processors from other brands. The processors utilize AI to optimize external GPU capabilities, boosting gaming frame rates and enabling sophisticated AI features like real-time facial tracking without compromising overall performance.

Intel’s new processors also introduce refined overclocking capabilities, allowing users to fine-tune turbo frequencies of P-cores and E-cores with precise control. Enhanced memory support now includes XMP and CUDIMM DDR5, offering up to 192GB of total memory capacity. This series also features expanded connectivity options, including 20 CPU PCIe 5.0 lanes, Thunderbolt 4 ports, and Wi-Fi 6E support.

Additionally, the Intel® Silicon Security Engine is integrated into the series, providing robust protection for data integrity while supporting the high-performance demands of AI workloads. The Core Ultra 200S series is set to become a milestone in AI-powered desktop computing, meeting the needs of both gaming enthusiasts and content creators.

Intel’s latest processors will be available for purchase starting October 24 through online and offline retailers, as well as from OEM partners.
