Seventeen Transforms Los Angeles with 'The City' Project, Celebrating K-pop Culture

K-pop sensation SEVENTEEN is set to take over Los Angeles (LA) with their “The City” project, a celebration of the group’s thematic influence across the city. Pledis Entertainment announced on the 5th that this event, titled “Seventeen The City Los Angeles,” will run from November 7 to 11, marking the grand finale of SEVENTEEN’s U.S. tour with a series of unique experiences.
As LA marks the final destination of SEVENTEEN’s U.S. tour, a variety of immersive events, including fan meet-ups, landmark lighting shows, pop-up stores, and F&B collaborations, have been organized with the support of local government and businesses. The highlight of these events is a landmark lighting show at the iconic Santa Monica Pier's Pacific Wheel. On the evening of November 8, the night before the concert, the 25-meter Ferris wheel will be illuminated with SEVENTEEN’s logo, creating a spectacular sight for fans and tourists alike.
Fans will also have the chance to take photos with a large plush character inspired by SEVENTEEN’s official light stick, “BongBong,” as they watch the breathtaking light show at the Ferris wheel. This fusion of SEVENTEEN’s identity with the city’s landmark offers a one-of-a-kind visual experience for fans.
Adding to the celebration, the LA City Council plans to present SEVENTEEN with an official certificate recognizing their contributions to art, culture, and the community. LA native and SEVENTEEN member Joshua will visit City Hall to accept the certificate, sharing his reflections on performing and hosting this special project in his hometown. He is expected to discuss the connection between LA and SEVENTEEN, bridging fans with the city’s cultural spirit.
On November 7, a celebratory party will be held at “Academy LA,” one of LA Tourism Board’s top 10 clubs. The club will feature SEVENTEEN-themed cocktails and play the group’s hit songs during peak hours, providing fans and locals with a lively, interactive celebration of K-pop culture.
A pop-up store featuring exclusive merchandise will also open at a Designer Art Gallery in downtown LA. Fans can purchase 11 limited-edition items, including varsity jackets, t-shirts, and hoodies that incorporate the “The City” logo. This special edition merch provides fans with an exclusive connection to SEVENTEEN’s themes.
Eight popular F&B brands in LA’s Koreatown will offer a culinary experience with SEVENTEEN-inspired menus. Restaurants, including the well-loved “Bok Chang Dong Tofu House,” will feature exclusive dishes, allowing fans and locals alike to enjoy a fusion of Korean cuisine and K-pop culture.
A Pledis Entertainment representative expressed appreciation, stating, “Thanks to SEVENTEEN’s global influence and the high interest shown by fans in ‘The City’ project, local institutions and brands were eager to participate in creating this event.” They added, “After beginning in Japan in 2022, SEVENTEEN’s ‘The City’ has now expanded to the U.S., and we plan to continue delivering unique artist IP experiences in various locations.”
