Line NEXT Inc. has announced the upcoming launch of its Mini Dapp and Dapp Portal services, integrated with the Line Messenger platform, slated for the first quarter of 2024. The company also unveiled 30 selected projects from the Kaia Wave program, a Web3 developer support initiative co-managed with the Kaia Foundation, chaired by Seo Sang Min.
Kaia Wave aims to cultivate Web3 developers globally and invigorate the blockchain ecosystem. With over 800 teams applying within three months, the program plans to showcase 150 projects by the first half of 2024, with additional releases to follow. Details of the selected projects are available on the Line NEXT Dapp Portal Medium channel and the Kaia Wave website.
Notable projects include Bombie, developed by Pluto Studio, the creators of a Mini App service boasting 3.4 million active users, and Shin-Chan’s Match Daily, a puzzle game based on the popular anime Crayon Shin-chan. Other highlights are Captain Tsubasa-RIVALS-on LINE, a casual game inspired by the legendary soccer manga, Heroic Arena, a MOBA-inspired idle game, and Superz, a health rewards app from the creators of SuperWalk. These projects will benefit from Kaia Wave’s robust support, including access to Kaia’s Dapp development platform, fee waivers, marketing aid, and funding opportunities.
The selected projects will be developed as Line Messenger Mini Dapps and released via the Dapp Portal starting next year. This portal will allow users to access a variety of decentralized applications directly within Line Messenger, providing rewards and enabling virtual asset transactions. Line NEXT plans to enhance user experience through features like keyless digital wallets, rapid transactions, and fee delegation, effectively bridging Web2 and Web3 services.
To further support Web3 adoption, Line NEXT has introduced a software development kit (SDK) for building and deploying Kaia-based Mini Dapps. The SDK is accessible to Kaia Wave participants and other competitive developers, enabling efficient and user-friendly Web3 service creation.
Go Young Soo, CEO of Line NEXT, emphasized the company’s commitment to making Web3 services accessible. “We are working to eliminate barriers for both Web3 users and developers, showcasing Asia’s first large-scale launch of Web3 Dapps. We aim to expand our user base across Line Messenger’s major markets, including Japan, Thailand, and Taiwan.”
Kaia DLT Foundation Chairman Seo Sang Min added, “Kaia’s mission has always been to deliver user-friendly Web3 services. Leveraging Line Messenger’s extensive reach in Asia, we’re building a blockchain service platform that’s simple yet innovative.”
David Mak, CEO of Pluto Studio, expressed optimism about Line’s Mini Dapp initiative. “We’re excited to be part of the inaugural lineup with Bombie. This marks the beginning of a series of groundbreaking games and applications we aim to bring to the platform.”
With the launch of the Mini Dapp ecosystem, Line NEXT is poised to reshape the Web3 landscape, empowering developers and enhancing user experiences across Asia and beyond.
