KANG RINA, previously recognized as a renowned movie-star in south Korea, is showcasing her pieces at the Insa Central Museum in Jongno-gu, Seoul, with a solo exhibition titled "Dunamis" as part of the 2023 Insadong MZ × New Media Art Fair. The theme "Dunamis" aims to visually convey healing and recovery from the challenges faced during the pandemic, using the symbolism of the heart.

Her interest in physics, particularly the missile, has been significant in her life, and her pet dog has been a protective symbol in her solitary life. Known as the "Marilyn Monroe of Korea" in the 1990s, she had a tumultuous journey in the film industry during political upheavals. Transitioning from a prominent actor to an artist brought tension within her family dynamics.
A significant life event was her brother's heart surgery, which led her to choose the "Heart" as a primary theme for her artwork, prompting contemplation about life. Her notions about the global icon Marilyn Monroe and her fascination with numbers and their representation are dualistic in nature.

Her life has been a journey of self-discovery, transitioning from a renowned actress to living away from family. The symbolic missile in her art represents the protective force she seeks in her life. Another symbol in her work, the ARRI film camera, signifies the scrutiny she underwent as an actress and is an extension of herself. The depiction of a reptile scaling a wall symbolizes her aspiration for freedom and transcendence.
In her current exhibition, the primary focus is the strength and power of love, depicted through various representations of the heart, as well as the camera and missile symbols.
The exhibition runs open until the 18th.

Kang Rina was born in 1964 in Korea. She graduated from various prestigious institutions and has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in various group exhibitions and art fairs. Her significant contributions and participation in the art community have made her a renowned figure in the Korean art scene.
