In a press release, Art Basel’s chief growth officer, Hayley Romer, stated that the brand’s audience desires products that capture and extend the experience of attending Art Basel. Romer emphasized that the Art Basel Shop aligns with the brand’s vision to engage its audience and provide more value to galleries, artists, and cultural partners.
The store is seen as a strategic move to broaden Art Basel’s appeal in the art and luxury sectors. Romer, who joined Art Basel last September, previously served as publisher and chief revenue officer of Atlantic Media, and has experience in luxury advertising at Forbes Media and Condé Nast.
The shop will feature memorabilia and apparel under the brand name AB by Art Basel, collaborations with artists including Christine Sun Kim, a wooden replica of Jean-Michel Basquiat’s Ferris Wheel from Luna Luna theme park, and skateboard decks decorated with designs by Cindy Sherman.
