Choi emphasized his character, Sang-deok, as an ordinary middle-aged man with a clear work ethic, aiming for a balanced presence among the ensemble cast. Despite his distinguished career portraying complex characters over three decades, Choi aimed for Sang-deok not to stand out or lack within the quartet of main characters.
