The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) has announced the launch of the 12th cycle of its Arab Documentary Photography Program (ADPP), inviting emerging photographers from across the Arab world to apply for a unique opportunity to advance their documentary photography skills. The program is being conducted in partnership with the Prince Claus Fund and the Magnum Foundation, with additional support from the Norwegian Embassy in Lebanon and Syria.
The comprehensive program is specifically designed for emerging photographers who are currently residing and working in the Arab world. Selected participants will have access to an intensive development experience that combines theoretical learning with practical application. The program aims to nurture the next generation of visual storytellers who can effectively document and shape the narratives of their region.
Winning applicants will receive three key benefits as part of the program. First, they will participate in three intensive workshops led by both regional and international experts in documentary photography. Second, participants will receive personalized, one-on-one mentoring sessions tailored to their individual needs and project goals. Third, selected photographers will be awarded production grants to help them successfully complete and realize their documentary projects.
Since its establishment in 2014, the Arab Documentary Photography Program has made a significant impact on the regional photography community. The program has supported more than 120 photographers throughout the Arab world over its eleven previous cycles. This extensive support network has helped create a dynamic and vibrant community of visual storytellers who are actively working to document and shape the cultural narratives of the region.
Interested photographers can find more detailed information about the program requirements and submit their applications through the AFAC official website. The application deadline is set for December 10, 2025, at 5:00 PM Beirut time, giving potential applicants several weeks to prepare and submit their materials.
