Dreaming Theatre will revive its traditional performing arts series “Pungnyu Yeoljeon” after a four-year hiatus.
The 2026 season will present four performances at the theatre in Daegu from Sept. 15 to Oct. 13. Each concert will begin at 8 p.m. on a Tuesday.
Launched in 2014, the independently produced series was designed to provide performance opportunities for Korean traditional music groups. According to the organiser, it presented 103 performances before being suspended following its 2022 edition.
The program is returning after being selected for a performing arts support project administered by the Arts Council Korea. This year’s open call was expanded beyond the region, bringing together four groups from across the country.
Nongak Cheonhajidaebon will open the season on Sept. 15 with “Young YOUNG Injeon,” a performance based on nongak, or traditional Korean farmers’ music and dance.
DooDa will follow on Sept. 22 with “Life and Death,” combining Korean traditional melodies and rhythms with electronic dance music.
Traditional music, song and dance ensemble The Han will present “Sharing Pungnyu with Citizens” on Oct. 6. The concert brings together folk singing, instrumental music and traditional dance.
Korean music band TONE will close the series on Oct. 13 with “White: Palette,” placing traditional instruments within a contemporary band arrangement.
Tickets are priced at 30,000 won for all seats, with advance-booking discounts available.
