The Prefecture of Gers has announced a comprehensive photography contest celebrating the department's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. The competition invites photographers of all skill levels to capture the essence of this picturesque French region, with gift vouchers available as prizes for winning entries.
Gers has long been a source of inspiration for artists, offering a wealth of magnificent villages, picturesque landscapes, museums, cultural sites, and iconic monuments. The prefecture aims to highlight these treasures through this open photography competition. From Auch to L'Isle-Jourdain, from Mirande to Eauze, and from Fleurance to Pavie, all photographic subjects within the region are welcome submissions.
The contest is open to everyone without age restrictions or residency requirements. Participants can submit their photographs immediately, with the deadline set for December 12, 2025. Winners will be announced between December 15 and December 19, 2025. The prefecture has established clear guidelines to ensure quality submissions and appropriate content.
Photographs must meet specific technical and content criteria to be eligible for consideration. All submissions must be in landscape format with a minimum file size of 5 MB to ensure adequate image quality. The prefecture has emphasized that any photographs deemed vulgar, devaluing, degrading, or humiliating will be automatically disqualified from the competition.
Each submission must include comprehensive participant information to be considered valid. Required details include the participant's full name, phone number, email address, and specific location where the photograph was taken. This information will help organizers properly catalog and credit the entries.
The contest winner will receive a 50-euro gift voucher valid at local merchants, supporting the regional economy while rewarding photographic excellence. Additionally, the winner will be offered a guided tour of the prefecture building with a companion of their choice, providing unique insight into the administrative heart of the region.
Following the judging process, eight selected photographs will be featured in a special exhibition in the Intendant d'Etigny hall within the prefecture building. This permanent display will showcase the winning entries and celebrate the diverse beauty of Gers as captured through the contestants' lenses.
The competition, officially titled "Photo Contest - Gers from Every Angle," represents the prefecture's commitment to promoting regional tourism and cultural appreciation. Interested participants can find complete rules and submission guidelines on the official Prefecture of Gers website, where additional information about the contest requirements and judging criteria is available.
