A newly completed residential project in Siem Reap, Cambodia, showcases contemporary architectural design while honoring the cultural heritage of its historic neighborhood. The Wat Bo House, designed by UAD Architects and completed in 2025, spans 590 square meters in the culturally rich Wat Bo Village area.
The project was conceived for a young couple who chose to establish their home in this storied neighborhood, drawn by both its distinctive architecture and the creative energy that permeates Wat Bo Village. The design team, led by architects Mengly Khuth and Visal Nuon, created a residence that captures the sensibilities and lifestyle preferences of the modern homeowners while respecting the architectural character of the surrounding area.
The house incorporates various high-quality materials and systems, including products from established manufacturers such as Daikin for climate control, Hafele for hardware solutions, and TOA Paint from Thailand for exterior finishes. These carefully selected components contribute to both the aesthetic appeal and functional performance of the residence.
Photographer Oudompheaktra Ang documented the completed project, capturing how the contemporary design elements integrate with the traditional neighborhood context. The images showcase the careful balance between modern living requirements and the preservation of local architectural character that defines Wat Bo Village.
The project represents a growing trend in Southeast Asian architecture where young professionals are choosing to invest in historic neighborhoods, bringing contemporary design sensibilities while contributing to the preservation and revitalization of culturally significant areas. The Wat Bo House stands as an example of how modern residential architecture can successfully blend with established community character.
