Gallery Grappe will present “After Hours: Senses That Shift After Dark,” a group exhibition featuring Seo Yura, Chung Ingee and YEKKI, from Aug. 26 to Oct. 2.
The exhibition begins with the idea that the same artwork and space can be perceived differently depending on time, light, music and the movement of visitors. It examines how the transition from day to night affects the viewing experience.
The exhibition is connected with Cheongdam Night, scheduled for Sept. 2 during Kiaf SEOUL 2026. The event brings together galleries and art institutions in the Cheongdam area through extended opening hours, exhibitions and accompanying programs.
Its curatorial framework refers to American philosopher John Dewey’s book “Art as Experience.” Rather than treating an artwork as an object separated from everyday life, the exhibition considers how art is experienced through interactions among the work, its environment and the viewer.

Seo Yura uses books and text as subjects for painting. In works including “Love-Vintage Book,” she converts sentences and book structures from materials intended to be read into visual images.
Chung Ingee works with text, pixels and light to examine the relationship between images and space. In “Eye to Eye,” color and repeated visual structures are arranged as forms of rhythm.
YEKKI combines multiple viewpoints and alters the scale and proportions of everyday objects. “Dream Series Set,” comprising a table, lighting and a chair, reorganizes familiar objects to produce a scene in which observed reality and imagined space overlap.

Although the artists use different materials and methods, their works share an interest in transforming familiar images and objects. Viewers encounter texts, objects and everyday scenes reorganized through each artist’s perspective.
The gallery plans to accompany the exhibition with programs combining art, music and spatial elements. The exhibition will be held at Gallery Grappe in Seoul’s Cheongdam-dong district.
