Jaehyun, a member of the popular K-pop group NCT, is set to begin his mandatory military service on November 4, where he will serve as part of the Army band, according to a media report on Thursday. He is scheduled to be discharged in May 2026.
SM Entertainment, Jaehyun's agency, confirmed the news, explaining that the artist had applied for the military band and was accepted. This makes Jaehyun the second NCT member to enlist, following Taeyong, who has served in the naval band since April.
Jaehyun’s enlistment comes shortly after his first solo album, "J," debuted last month. The album’s lead single, "Smoke," achieved first place on a television music chart show, solidifying his solo success before his enlistment.
In addition to his musical achievements, Jaehyun is also set to make his film debut in “You Will Die in 6 Hours,” an upcoming movie adaptation of Kazuaki Takano’s thriller novel, which is expected to premiere next month.
