Kai of EXO is set to return with a new solo album, Wait On Me, marking his first release following his military service hiatus. On April 1, SM Entertainment launched a special promotional website titled Behind Wait, designed to offer fans a glimpse into the album’s creative process and emotional undertones.
Wait On Me is Kai’s third mini-album and follows Rover, which was released two years ago. The upcoming record not only marks his comeback as a soloist but also carries the added weight of anticipation built during his absence from the stage.
Through Behind Wait, Kai offers fans rare access to personal anecdotes, handwritten notes, and a hidden gallery, providing a narrative-rich experience that goes beyond traditional album teasers. This storytelling-driven approach highlights the introspective journey behind the album’s creation.
Alongside the website, a detailed schedule poster has been revealed, featuring the release of music videos for two of the album’s tracks—“Adult Swim” and “Walls Don’t Talk.” These visual components are expected to showcase Kai’s signature blend of performance and artistry.
In addition to online engagement, SM Entertainment has announced an offline activation. From April 3 to 8, starting precisely at 1:14 PM each day—a nod to Kai’s birthday, January 14—the LED media wall at the company’s headquarters will display a 4-minute visual preview of the album. It will feature three concept teaser images, released for the first time globally.
The album Wait On Me, scheduled for release on April 21, consists of seven tracks, including the title song of the same name. The new project is expected to highlight Kai’s growth as a performer and his continued exploration of musical identity, signaling a new chapter in his solo career.
