In a recent development, Lucas released the first installment of a "LUCAS Documentary" on his newly created X account and official YouTube channel on Saturday. The 20-minute documentary offers insights into his emotional journey during the extended hiatus.
Lucas took a pause from his career in August 2021 following a series of privacy-related disclosures. The controversies unfolded when an individual claiming to be Lucas's ex-girlfriend revealed private messages, accusing him of gaslighting and financial exploitation. Subsequently, four more individuals came forward with accusations of infidelity and extravagant demands during their relationships.
Responding to the mounting pressure, Lucas publicly acknowledged the allegations and issued a handwritten apology letter in Chinese on his social media two days after the initial disclosure. Despite the apology, further revelations surfaced, leading to Lucas's departure from NCT and WayV in May 2023. In his departure statement, Lucas expressed his intention to pursue individual endeavors, leaving room for a potential solo debut.
This development occurs against the backdrop of other SM Entertainment artists facing privacy-related controversies, highlighting ongoing challenges within the industry concerning personal privacy issues. Notably, allegations of infidelity emerged against EXO member Chanyeol in October 2020, while Seunghan, a former member of SM's boy group RIIZE, temporarily halted activities due to controversies surrounding his personal life shortly after his debut.
