Gen.G, a Korean League of Legends (LoL) team, defeated China's Bilibili Gaming 3-1 to win the 2024 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) in Chengdu, China, on Sunday. The victory earned Gen.G a $50,000 grand prize and secured their place in the 2024 LoL World Championship this fall.
This win marks Gen.G's first MSI title and the first time since 2017 that a team from the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) has won the tournament. The final match was a rematch of an earlier round, where Gen.G also defeated Bilibili Gaming 3-1. Bilibili Gaming advanced to the final by defeating another Korean team, T1, 3-2 in the losers' bracket.

In the final, Gen.G took an early lead, winning the first two games. Bilibili Gaming won the third game, but Gen.G clinched the title in the fourth game. This victory brought the MSI trophy back to the LCK, which had not won since 2017, with Chinese teams winning five of the six previous tournaments. The 2020 MSI was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Son "Lehends" Si-woo was named MVP of the tournament, playing alongside teammates Kim "Kiin" Gi-in, Jung "Chovy" Ji-hoon, Kim "Canyon" Geon-bu, and Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan. Gen.G has had a successful season, having won the 2024 LCK Spring Split to qualify for the MSI and now securing a spot in the World Championship.
The LCK Summer Split begins in June.
